Meeting the Challenge of Hybrid Working

Founded in 1858, Fells is one of the UK’s leading Fine Wine distributors, its shareholders and
producer partners wines are owned by some of the world’s leading family-owned producers.

Fells supplies premium wines and Ports to over 850 trade customers in the UK including leading Multiple Grocers, Prestige Wine merchants and specialist wine brokers as well as many of the country’s most prestigious hotels and restaurants.

Fells is a transactionally complex business with a large customer base, internationally based suppliers, a wine list of over 2,000 SKUs and trades in more than 5 currencies.

As a result of the Covid pandemic, Fells had to close its Kings Langley HQ and all office-based staff had to have home working capability within 2-3 working days.  All needed a quick, smooth and comprehensive switch to enable full operational capability, business safety and flexibility. The business was unclear what the IT needs for this switch would be but believed that the transition would be a one-off and would last for just a few months.  This change was probably the most significant challenge that the business has had to manage ever.

To support their business, Fells uses a Microsoft Cloud architecture including Azure Windows Virtual Desktop, Microsoft 365, Teams Telephony with specialised line of business software for
their industry.
